Bereavement Counselling, Kirriemuir, Angus
Drawing from my own personal experience of heartbreak and loss, I understand the deep grief and occasional anger that can follow the passing of a loved one.
This allows me to guide you through the complex emotions that arise during such difficult times.
Losing someone close can trigger a wide range of emotional and psychological responses. While grief is often centred around the loss of a loved one, it can also be accompanied by feelings of anger, betrayal, guilt, and even resentment in certain circumstances.
Death does not always come at the end of a long and fulfilling life. It can result from illness, accidents, or suicide, sometimes taking those we love when they are still young. While the loss of a parent later in life is often expected, the sudden or untimely death of a child, partner, or loved one can feel impossible to accept.
Together, we can explore strategies to help you navigate the overwhelming emotions that follow loss, allowing you to find meaning in your grief and a way forward.
The emotional impact of death can be devastating, often leaving those left behind struggling to cope. Grieving is one of life’s most difficult challenges, but through discussion and support, we can find ways to honour your loved one while discovering a sense of purpose amid loss.
I offer a unique perspective on finding a path through grief—not necessarily to happiness, but to a place where you can develop strategies to live with your loss and move forward in a way that feels right for you.
Bereavement Counselling FAQs
What is Bereavement Counselling?
Bereavement Counselling is form of therapy that focuses on supporting individuals who are experiencing the emotional and psychological distress associated with the loss of a loved one or any significant life-changing event.
I offer a safe and compassionate space for individuals to express their grief, navigate the grieving process, and find ways to integrate the loss and heal.
What is The Grieving Process?
The grieving process and bereavement are unique experiences for every person and therapists acknowledge the wide range of emotions and reactions that can accompany loss, such as sadness, anger, guilt, confusion, and even relief.
One of the fundamental principles of grief counselling is the recognition that grief is a natural and necessary response to loss. It is not something to be “fixed” or “cured,” but rather something to be navigated and integrated into one’s life.
The primary goal of grief counselling is to provide a supportive environment where individuals can openly express their feelings, thoughts and memories associated with the loss.
How long will it take?
It is important to note that grief counselling is not a linear process with a fixed timeline or stages as are often described. Each person’s grief journey is unique, and the duration and intensity of grief can vary greatly. A therapist can provide ongoing support and guidance as you navigate the ups and downs of your grieving process.
By acknowledging the unique nature of each person’s grief and providing compassionate support, the grieving person can navigate the challenging journey of healing and finding meaning after loss.
